“FPJ” and Knee Replacement PDF Print E-mail

Earlier this year, one of FPJ’s stuntmen and double had both of his knees replaced at the De Los Santos Medical Center (DLSMC) by AOJR surgeon and head of the Arthritis Center of DLSMC, Dr. Jose Fernando Syquia. After years of abuse, his knees eventually gave way to the point that walking became a painful chore for him. “FPJ”, as he is fondly called by his friends and peers, eventually decided to undergo knee replacement surgery, having both damaged knees replaced at the same time. He has been very happy with his decision and proudly claims that he has returned to doing martial arts, one of his favorite pastimes. This picture shows “FPJ” with Dr. Ruvi Lady Tagulao and Dr. JM Co, who interviewed him for one of their episodes in UNTV5’s “Doctors on TV”.

The Arthritis Center of the De Los Santos Medical Center recently held a fashion show entitled “Step Forward”. Patients who had undergone joint replacement surgery walked down the ramp showcasing the works of fashion designer Mr. Edgar San Diego with accessories by Mr. Jun Jun Ablaza. Dr. Jose Fernando Syquia, senior surgeon of AOJR and current head of the Arthritis Center, expressed his hopes that through this show of fashion and motion, patients who could hardly walk due to arthritis would realize that expertise and skill in doing joint replacement is available to help them bounce back to an active lifestyle.
